Find Customers Using Online Forums For Your Business

As an entrepreneur with an online business, you always need more customersOnline forums and mailing lists are among the places where you can find them.  Chances are that you’re using those venues already. After all, you know they allow you to demonstrate your expertise and to build links back to your website.

But if that’s all you do, you’re leaving a lot of money on the table.  Here’s a way to get many more customers from your forum marketing efforts:  Instead of just focusing on spreading the word about your expertise, use forums to make contact with your prospects more directly, not to sell to them, but to build relationships.

In fact, the combination of building  personal relationships while also establishing your professional expertise can be an excellent way to attract new customers. Here’s how to do it:

1.Identify forums and lists in your industry. Head over to Google.com and do a search on “NICHE forums.” Be sure to replace NICHE with the name of YOUR niche, such as knitting or breeding guinea pigs.  Then go to groups.yahoo.com and groups.google.com and find a few email lists in your industry. Look both at the number of participants and at the frequency of updates. For best results, choose smaller, more active lists or forums over larger, inactive communities.

2.For each forum or mailing list, go through the enrollment process to create a profile and register so you’ll be eligible to both post and receive messages. You should also place a link to your site in your profile signature line if that is permitted, although it’s not essential for this particular method.

3.Monitor the conversation to get a sense of who the movers and shakers are.  Get familiar with  the main topics of interest as well. Join in where appropriate, but remember that your main goal is not just to answer questions. Instead, you want to establish personal relationships with others in the community. Build the level of trust with individual members by sharing and responding to personal information, and by keeping track of what is going on in their lives.

4.Once you have established yourself as a community member and feel like you’ve got a “relationship” with a handful of people, reach out. Based on their individual preferences or concerns, send them a direct link to a resource that will be of interest to them. This resource could be on your site, or even on someone else’s site.

The goal is not to “sell” them anything at this point, but to show them that you are attuned to their wants and needs. Try a simple note saying, “Hey, I know you’re interested in watercolor painting. I’m starting an online class next week that you might be interested in checking out!” This “soft sell” lets them know what you have to offer, without pushing them too hard. If you’ve done a good job building their trust, they’ll be receptive to your suggestions.

Of course, there’s an even softer sell… You can offer them free stuff and send them to your opt-in page.  That way, they won’t even have to buy anything, yet you may be able to get them to join your list, which opens another channel of communication.  Once they’re subscribed, you can continue to build your relationship, both through your autoresponder sequences and by sending them the occasional personal email.

While this method of finding customers might not seem all that different from the way you may already be using, it differs in one key element from the “common wisdom” about promoting yourself online. Rather than demonstrating your knowledge, expertise, and offerings in a wider, more public setting, you’re focusing on creating relationships behind the scenes, with one individual at a time.

While this one-by-one approach may seem effort-intensive and not very efficient, it’s actually quite powerful and won’t take nearly as much time and effort as you’d expect. Over the course of a month, you can establish strong, personal relationships with a dozen or more contacts, and all it will take is just minutes a day.

Even if you get just a dozen leads from that strategy, consider that these new leads are 12 people who already believe in you, trust your recommendations, and are receptive to your offerings. Bringing pre-sold people into your funnel is much more effective than casting a wide net and gathering a boatload of contacts who may or may not want what you’re selling.

Of course, you can always use this method in conjunction with “strutting your stuff” on the wider forum. Give both a try and see how they actually enhance each other. The members you have connected with on a personal level are going to be supportive of you in the more public group or forum, and vice versa. Now that’s smart marketing!

Affiliate Marketing Or Multi-Level Marketing

Mlm-software

Image via Wikipedia

Which is best affiliate marketing or multi-level marketing? The two types of marketing are different.

Affiliate marketing is a way that you will be able to make a commission off someone else’s product. As you promote ( or market ) and sell the product you make money or a percentage of the cost of said product. This is great when you don’t have your own products. However that being said… learning how to do target advertising and where to get the most or best exposure for the product, therefore more sales is very important.

MLM or multi-level marketing is a strategy that uses the efforts of others to give you leverage to make money. This method is where you will bring customers into a program or company and they buy a product or service, then they do the same by bringing in someone else who buys a product or service. In this way you each make a percentage on the customer, products, and or service. The more customers you bring into the company the more money you make.

If you are good at networking then MLM is the way for you to go. Being able to connect and engage with others correctly will build your reputation and your downline.
These two styles of marketing is not for everyone. The solution is to figure out which one works best for you.

A Good Beginner’s Guide to Starting a Business Online

Now is one of the best times to start a business, whether you want to start one online or offline. The reason is that a recession is always a good time to start a business because it allows you to cash in on trends, as well as really zero in on what people are looking for.

Many may not see recessions as a good thing because it's also a time when a lot of businesses go out of business. The reason this is good is because the marketplace is being cleared of the weak businesses. In other words, some of your competition is being eliminated. Businesses that will thrive in this type of economy are businesses that pay attention to what their customers want and give it to them.

If you're looking for a revolutionary way to start a business, or something that's totally different that's out there, don't bother. There's really nothing "new under the sun." If you're looking to get into the business that's right for you and actually make money, then Joel Comm's "Kaching" may just be the ticket.

You won't find anything revolutionary here, just five basic business models Comm has used in his own business to make money. These include Google AdSense content sites, memberships, products, affiliate marketing, and coaching programs.

In fact, if you're interested in making money from Google AdSense, this is a good place to start. Comm spends a lot of time talking about Google AdSense because he's made a lot of money from it. (He doesn't tell you how he did it, but he does show you how to get his free ebook that explains Google AdSense in more detail.)

The first part of the book is devoted to showing you how to get started with Google AdSense. (You don't even need any money to get started because he shows you how with Blogger blogs.) Then he covers each model in a separate chapter. (He tells you what to do, but he doesn't tell you how to do it. Each topic is a separate book in itself.)

What I liked about this book is that he really boils the business models down to the basics. Unlike a lot of other books by business people, he makes it clear that there is work involved. He does try to show you easier ways of doing things, and he gives you a straightforward path to getting the work done.

What I didn't like about the book is that it's so basic. When I read now as a business person, I read to increase my knowledge, as well as find those rare gems I want to share with my readers. I found myself going through the book saying, "I know this." Even though it really didn't help me learn anything new about business, it did help me streamline my future product offerings, which is a plus, because it will save me time in product creation.

If you are thinking about starting a business, and you are new to online business, then I definitely recommend this book. It will help you discover the right business model for your business, as well as show you how to create multiple streams of income. If you've been in business for awhile, I would only recommend it if you are looking for ways to add new streams of income.

Online Affiliate Marketers Who Desire Page One On Google Must Focus On One Keyword Phrase

As internet affiliate marketers we are all searching for a easy way to get a page one ranking in our niche and take delivery of all the free traffic the search engines will send us. You will be excited to know there is a way to accomplish this, and it is free, But It takes time and work. That was the unpleasant news now for some excellent news, ninety percent of online affiliate marketers, don’t have the time or knowledge or energy to do it. If you want it bad enough it is reachable.

If you are an online affiliate marketer you should by now know your niche. As I have talked about in earlier articles I believe the greatest source of free traffic is article writing. This article is about getting to page one of Google, so let us concentrate on that for right now.

Using Keyword Phrase:
1. Find a keyword phrase in your niche that has excellent traffic and the least amount of competition. This is the most time consuming task you will tackle, the better job you do deciding on a keyword in your niche the better. I use market samurai for my research they take you step by step on video how to find profitable niches.

2. Write an article about your special keyword phrase. Make sure that phrase is in the title, if possible in the beginning of the title. Continue writing articles and focusing on just that keyword phrase. For one month continue researching the subject and keep writing first-class articles, always getting that keyword phrase in the title.

3. Put the keyword phrase in the title, in the first paragraph and the last paragraph and a few times in the body of the article. Make certain your keyword phrase fits into the sentence easily. Don’t stuff it where it is not natural. Each time you use your keyword phrase makes certain to bold it. This is done to aid the search engine robots find them without difficulty.

4. I genuinely don’t believe there is a magical percentage of keyword density that Google looks for. If you put your phrase in the title and the first paragraph and last paragraph and a few time in the body of your article you will be fine. Remember focus on your keyword phrase don’t go loading you article with numerous keywords you will only make your article weaker.
There must be no doubt what your article is about. You want your article to interesting, informative, and entertaining. Before you can get the benefits that your article provides (Traffic and back links) you must make your article interesting enough to the reader that he or she continues to read it to the very end. At the end of your article you are allowed to place your resource box.
About the Resource Box:

Your reader stuck around long enough to finish your article, which you must assume they enjoyed it and must be interested in what you wrote about. The resource box is your final chance to entice your reader to take the action you want him or her to take. Don’t Blow it! This is where so many authors start blowing their own horn by telling the reader all about themselves.

The resource box is not about you. The resource box is when you tell the reader what is in it for them. The benefit they will receive if they take action now. Here is an example:

3 Ways to Ensure Your Business is Busy – No Matter The Economy or Season

****Today’s post comes from Sandra Martini**** A great read!

It’s summer. . .a time of school vacations; hazy, hot and humid weather; and, according to some, the slowest business season of the year.

Not so here in Lakeville! We’re going gangbusters and there’s a few reasons why which you can easily use/adapt for your business:

1. Plan for success and work the plan. Nothing secret here – it actually makes things easier if you have a plan to work by as there’s no wondering “What should I focus on?” thoughts when you walk in the office each morning.

2. Generate exposure all year round for a steady flow of business: consistent article marketing; regularly (at least 2x/week) posting on your, and others’, blogs; connecting with people “live” through social media; “touching” your readers through direct mail and, if conducive to your business, regularly hosting f.r.e.e. teleclasses.

3. Create systems to work for you. The busier you get, the more important it is to have the right systems in place so “no balls get dropped” and every client experiences Extreme Client Care™ from you and every member of your team. And the busier you are, the more clients who want to work with you.

The above is a longer way of saying that:

Ordinary things, done consistently, create extraordinary AND consistent, results!

Make It Real: My Request To You

It’s true. . .the above may not seem like the sexiest or most amazing secrets in the world.

It’s also true that 99% of all entrepreneurs and small business owners don’t do them. Always searching, hoping for the magic pill, they fail to do the things which practically guarantee success.

Every day you sit down to work, you have a choice: move steadily forward or sit and wait for success to find you.

Which are you going to do today?

A Strategic Marketing & Profitability Mentor, Sandra Martini (www.SandraMartini.com), creator of Escalator Marketing™, shows creative heart-based entrepreneurs how to build sustainable businesses without losing their integrity or their minds. Positive Affirmations – They Can Help You Succeed! By Azar Colter

***This article was written by my good friend and very brillant motivational and personal development coach…Azar Colter!

Actor, Jim Carrey always believed in magic. When he wasn't doing anything in town, he would go up nights, sit on Mulholland Drive, look out over the city, stretch out his arms and say, "Everybody want to work with me, I'm a really good actor. I have all kinds of great movie offers." He would repeat those words over and over, literally convincing himself that he had a couple of movies lined up. He affirmed those thoughts night after night…until his thoughts became his reality.

I'm reading an outstanding book by Jack Canfield who has been coined "America's #1 Success Coach." Most of you know him from the "The Secret", Rhonda Byrne's 2004 movie that made the "Law Of Attraction" a household word. Then you might be familiar with Jack Canfield because of his inspirational and motivational "Chicken Soup for The Soul books which he co-authored with Mark Victor Hansen. In his current book, "The Success Principals," he guides the reader on a journey of "How To Get from Where You Are To Where You Want To Be." In all honesty, I am amazed at what I did not know about positive affirmations.

In January of this year, I became very serious about internet marketing and decided to surround myself with the most successful people I could find online. Tony Robbins says "Success leaves clues" In other words, if you want to soar like an eagle, you don't hang around turkeys. Now, I have always been a positive person, and although I've loved reading affirmations, I'm finding, I really did not how to apply positive affirmations to my life effectively. When I thought about my future, and my life"s goals, I would say things such as " I wish I could live in a better home" or " I sure would like to have a better position" or "One day, I'll have the extra money I need. I have even tried " name it and claim it" However, all of my efforts of thinking positive to achieve success in my life were of no avail.

Since I have started reading Jack's book, I have learned a great deal. It is like he has put into perspective everything I have read on positive thinking and personal development from others like Napoleon Hill, Earl Nightingale, Jim Rohn, Max Lucado and James Allen. Right now, I'm on chapter 10, "Release the Brakes" and it has really made an impact on me. There were two particular paragraphs which I read over and over. In essence he said, our limiting thoughts actually create images in our mind, and those images will govern our behavior which in turn reinforces those limiting thoughts. If we are forever complaining about our present way of life and our current circumstances, we only continue to reinforce those very same neural pathways in our brain that got us where we are today. We need to reinforce positive thoughts in order to attract positive circumstances.

OMG!…what those words meant to me was, even though I was a person who would see the glass half full instead of half empty, I had been subconsciously reinforcing the sabotage of my success by thinking, talking, even complaining about the way my life was. I had actually been reinforcing wrong thoughts. "I wish I could, I hope to, I want to, I have dreams to" was as far as I had gotten and was all I was going to get. I had never achieved my aspirations because my thoughts were limited and therefore created the wrong images. That was why my circumstances never changed!

Further on in the book, Jack explained that there are many ways to change your limiting thoughts which will in turn change the images of your mind and your behavior. One of those ways was through positive and effective affirmations. He has given nine guidelines, I would like to share just one of those with you…Positive Affirmations.

The first way to construct your positive affirmation is to start with the words "I AM." Because an affirmation is a statement that describes a goal in it's already completed state, the subconscious takes any sentence that starts with those two words and interprets it as a command – a directive to make it happen. For instance, one of the things that I have a vision of is giving my Pastor a really big check for the building fund one day.

Wrong: I really want to give my Pastor a big check for the building fund one day

Right: I am going to really enjoy giving my Pastor a check for $3,000.00 in a years time for the church building fund.

Wrong: I want to be successful one day

Right: I am going to become a successful personal development coach in order to help others realize their dreams as well as dreams of my own

Wrong: God is good all the time

Right: I am grateful to God for what He has done in my life and for what he will continue to do. He will supply all of my need according to His riches in Glory.

Positive affirmations will not in and of themselves make you successful. But by applying them effectively to your life, you will begin to change the way you think. James Allen said "You are today where your thoughts have brought you; you will be tomorrow where your thoughts take you."

So, ask yourself, "where are my thoughts taking me?" It does not matter in what field you aspire to be successful, commit to applying affirmations to your life daily, reinforce positive thoughts and before you know it, you will be soaring to new heights of success.

If you are frustrated and tired and not achieving the success you deserve, learn more about how Azar Colter uses Positive Affirmations in her marketing success. Remember, success leaves clues!

Coaching & Psychotherapy

More and more people are hearing the terms personal coach or life coach. There have been newspaper articles and professional articles written on the subject. Several people have asked me, "what is a life or personal coach and how is personal coaching different from psychotherapy?" Until recently, personal coaching has been con-fined to corporations where it is known as executive coaching or executive consulting. Today personal coaching has found its way into the public domain. This issue of the Psychotherapy Update will discuss personal or life coaching as a new trend that will become more available over the next decade to assist people in achieving a more fulfilling, rewarding and balanced life. Perhaps personal coaching is just what you've been waiting for to help you enrich your already satisfying life.

Coaching has been around for a long time. It is usually associated with sports, e.g., tennis coach, golf coach, track coach, football coach or baseball coach, to name a few. You want to get better at something, whom do you call? A coach. You want to become more physically fit, you call a personal trainer. Just as there are athletic coaches, voice coaches, and acting coaches, there are personal coaches. Personal coaches, sometime referred to as life coaches, are usually professionally trained mental health practitioners, who, in most instances, have been successful in their professional and personal life. In addition to their professional training, they have developed special skills in helping individuals develop their potential and fulfill their goals. Within the past years the practice of personal coaching has mushroomed. In 1994 it was estimated that there were approximately 1000 personal or life coaches nationwide. Today it is estimated that there are close to 5000. As people seek to achieve greater fulfillment from their work, their marriages, and their life in general, the need for personal coaches will continue to increase. Previously many people sought psychotherapy for personal growth not just for treatment of emotional problems or mental illness. Others wanted some other form of assistance without the association to mental illness carried by psychotherapy. Now people can turn to personal coaches whose focus is on growth and development of all areas of one's life rather than on internal stress and emotional conflict.

Coaching and Mentoring

Mentoring has been around for as long as there have been relationships. Mentor was the name of the royal advisor to Odysseus in Homer's Odyssey. A mentor is a trusted person to whom we turn for counsel, advice, and support who may act as a guide or consultant suggesting a path or course of action.

Many of us may have been fortunate to have in our lives an important person to whom we would turn for advice and counsel. This person may have been a revered uncle, a respected teacher, a member of the clergy, or our Scoutmaster. We often refer to these individuals as mentors. We look to them for assistance in helping us fulfill a part of ourselves. We want to develop a better self, whether that self is in relation to our school, work, business, or profession; or we want to develop more effective skills in organizing our life. These mentors may assist us in fulfilling our dreams and aspirations, and may become role models as well.

Coaching and mentoring have a great deal in common. A personal coach is similar to a professional mentor. The coach's role is more clearly defined. The coach has no other relationship to the client than that of a coach. Therefore, there is no hidden agenda or conflict of inter-est. Often we seek a coach to help us achieve balance in our lives. Personal coaches believe that when all aspects of one's life are in harmony, a synergy is formed that can propel and individual forward to achieve greatness.

When we turn to a personal coach, we want to become better at whatever it is that we are focused on. We want to actualize our potential. We know that we have the potential, we know that our business can grow or that our life can be better balanced, but we have difficulty in developing a plan of action that will help us reach our vision of the way things could be. Something is blocking us or we are too close to the project. We need a second pair of eyes. We need a boost. Professional coaches start with where you are. They work with you, as a collaborator, to help you realize your goals. Frequently they help you define and clarify your goals. Once your goals have been articulated, they then work with you to develop a plan of action for achieving those goals.

Coaching and Consulting

Consulting is a much more recent development. Indus-trial consulting developed after WWII followed by executive consulting and continued to evolve with the de-velopment of the human potentials movement in the 1970's. Business schools and schools of management incorporated executive consulting into their programs. Executive consultants assisted top level managers in developing training programs, human resources, manage-ment skills, and organizational development.

Coaching is related to consulting; some consider coach-ing a subset of consulting. However, the consultant normally provides the consultation service for the period of the contract; once the consultant has completed the project, the relationship terminates. In personal coach-ing, the coach not only helps the client develop a plan of action to achieve a desired set of goals, the coach also stays with the client to help implement the changes and goals. With a consultant you pay for an expert's advice and opinion. A coach will help you explore options. A personal coach will assist you in discovering alternatives that fit your agenda, rather than tell what to do. A coach will empower you to find the answers to your questions and develop a strategy for your life that is consistent with your values and beliefs. Generally speaking, coaching goes beyond consulting to incorporate all areas of your life rather than the narrower focus commonly found in consulting.

Coaching and Psychotherapy

What is the difference between coaching and psycho-therapy? Coaching is not therapy. Personal coaches don't work on "issues" or delve into the past. Nor do they deal much with understanding human behavior. Coaches do not focus on resolving past traumas that affect personality development nor do they try to change personality structures. Coaches do not attempt to ameliorate psychic pain, anxiety, depression, or sexual dysfunction. These are issues that are dealt with in psycho-therapy.

A personal coach focuses on:
o Helping people set better goals.
o Asking their clients to do more than they would on their own.
o Helping their clients to focus better so as to product results more quickly.
o Providing clients with the tools, support, and structure to accomplish more.

Whereas psychotherapy focuses on the past and the present, coaching focuses on the present and future. The personal coach maintains a focus on the goals that the client decides s/he would like to achieve. The collaborative effort propels the individual to continually move toward the goal. In psychotherapy the assumption is that there is something wrong that gets in the way of a person's functioning that needs fixing. In coaching the assumption that there is nothing wrong with the client, but the client wants an even better life. In psychotherapy the main focus is on the client's internal world. In coaching the focus is on the client's entire life including health, relationships, career, spirituality, etc., and how it all fits together.

Personal coaches help people develop a balanced life. They do this through strengthening their client's personal foundation. Part of one's personal foundation is recognizing and clarifying one's core values. Most of us seldom take the time to delineate and clarify our values, those beliefs that are at the center of our belief. Often we act in ways that our contrary to our internalized values and we end up feeling uncomfortable, guilty, or even ashamed. Frequently, we are not aware of the causes for our disquietude. On exploration we may find that we acting in ways that are contrary to our own value system. A coach can help you explore your values and assist in developing a set of goals and actions that comport with this value system such that you feel in synch with yourself.

Coaches have no agenda but that of their clients. It is one of the few relationships where the client's agenda is the only agenda that matters. Personal coaches want to assist you in actualizing your agenda on your terms. The objective of the coach to open new possibilities. The attention in coaching is solely on you and your agenda.

How Does Coaching Work?

Similar to psychotherapy, coaching works best when there are regular appointments. In order to maintain focus and honor commitments, continuity is necessary. However, coaching is not limited to face-to-face meetings. In fact, most personal coaching takes place over the telephone. Coaching is not limited to geographical location. One can be coached from any location. Coaching sessions are usually thirty minutes in length with three or four sessions scheduled per month.

There are many variables that contribute to the effectiveness of coaching:
1. Better goals are set, ones that naturally impel you forward.
2. Synergy between the coach and client creates momentum.
3. Accountability. Knowing that you have to report to someone on progress or completion of an assignment, impels you to completion.
4. Time limits and deadlines may set which mitigates procrastination.
5. Prioritizing tasks with your coach makes it more likely that the tasks will be accomplished.
6. Tasks are put into manageable pieces to avoid feeling overwhelmed with the enormity of the task.
7. You can borrow your coaches belief in you, until you develop a belief in yourself.
8. You have a partner in your coach; working with someone always feels more empowering than work-ing alone.
9. You develop new skills.
10. When you have a coach, you tend to take yourself more seriously.
11. You take more effective and focused actions immediately.
12. You stop putting up with what is holding you back.
13. You set better goals that are more in accord with what you want out of life.

Why is coaching becoming so popular?

Thomas Leonard, founder of Coach University, says that coaching is becoming so popular for several reasons:

"Many people are tired of doing what they think they "should" do and are ready to do something special and meaningful for the rest of their lives. One problem is that many can't see what this is or, if they can, they can't find a way to reorient their life around it. A coach can help them do both.

People are realizing how simple it can be to accomplish something that several years ago might have felt out of reach or like a pipe-dream. A coach is not a miracle worker…but a coach does have a large tool kit to help the Big Idea become a Reality. Fortunately, people now have the time and resources to invest in themselves in this kind of growth.

Spirituality. If you track the phenomenal success of James Redfield's Celestine Prophecy on the NY Times best-seller list back in 1994, you got a sense of just how many people are willing to look at, and consider, the notion of spirituality. Wow. Many coaches are spiritually based – even the ones who coach IBM or AT&T. America is growing more spiritual very quickly. ([My] working definition of spirituality? How connected you are with yourself and others.") The coach helps the clients to tune in better to themselves and to others."

How can I know whether I need a coach or a therapist?

Generally people have turned to a psychotherapist when they experience psychological pain that interferes with the conduct of their everyday life. They may experience anxiety, depression, sexual dysfunction, dysphoria, low self-esteem, lack of identity, obsessions, compulsive rituals, or a feeling that they are not functioning to capacity. Many people have turned to psychologists and other psychotherapists when they want to enhance their life. They seek therapy for personal growth and greater self-understanding.

Coaching begins where psychotherapy leaves off. The coach assumes that the client is well-functioning and is facing a roadblock or finding it difficult to get over the next mountain to greater fulfillment. People turn to coaches when their life is going well. Usually they are high-functioning people who want to expand their lives, their businesses, and their general outlook. They tend to be successful people who have a vision that they could go beyond where they are, but feel that they would like someone to work with them to achieve their goals. These are the same people who would seek a coach to improve their golf or tennis game, seek consultation in their business, or utilize a financial planner to assist with their finances. They seek a coach to accelerate their growth or maximize an opportunity. Some people choose a coach to help in the short-term for a specific task or project, while others engage a coach to restruc-ture their life.

What training do coaches have?

Many coaches have a background in human behavior, psychology, or human development. A large number of coaches hold licenses in a psychological discipline, e.g., psychology, counseling, social work, etc. Others have a background in business, law or consulting. These individuals usually have sought additional training in coaching. Most all coaches have had extensive personal experience.

Many coaches, like myself, have found that coaching emerged naturally out of their clinical practice. After having been in practice for over 30 years, I have developed a body of experience. I have worked with individuals for years and watched them through their various life transitions. Many times people come back after being in therapy seeking something different from their therapy experience. They are facing an obstacle to their progress and wanted a trusted professional with whom to discuss their situation. Whether it is a business decision, a life decision, or a wish to change their lifestyle, they want a different perspective. So they have turned to me. Over the years I have found this type of relationship very rewarding. Often these people would jokingly refer to me as "Coach." Little did I know that this title was to be prophetic. I am sure that many practitioners have found their way into coaching by a similar route.

People choose their coach on the basis of whether there is reason to believe that this person can help me to accomplish my goals. If they feel comfortable with their coach and believe progress is being made, they continue. Otherwise, they terminate the relationship. Coaching is not about "the doctor knows best" model. It is about what works for you.
